More about Doonesbury

No drawing today, I’m still working on the Salient article about Doonesbury. Although I must know more about Doonesbury than practically anyone in Wellington (apart from a few twisted freaks), I didn’t get to interview the guy. Looking on the Net, you can see that not many other people have, either. In fact, it’s not until 11 years into the strip’s history that he’s interviewed in one of his own books. Good interview, though:

“When Trudeau, in 1975, became the first comic-strip artist to win the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning, the Editorial Cartoonist’s Society proposed a resolution condemning the Pulitzer committee. Trudeau, once assured the award was irrevocable, supported the resolution.”

Just had a look at the article, over Tristan’s shoulder – laah-ver-lee! :-)

Today, of course, I woke up feeling unwell, stumbled to my Dr’s appointment & have been pretty randomly useless most of the day, limping around.. so, should have started the day by checking the comments on the blog, ‘cos the raspberry ice-cream theme had me cackling merrily. Laughter having a wonderful effect on pain, generally.

Now I’m going to knuckle down and finish a story-with-pictures, on my favourite topic, Police wasting public time and money.
