My evening was like a Suede song, courtesy of my unique but frankly bonkers friend Pippa. It began on the balcony of an unnamed Cuba St couture retailer and ended in Oriental Bay, via Civic Square, Bodega and Devon St. It was almost exactly like Bowie’s ‘Candidate’ from Diamond Dogs:
We’ll buy some drugs and watch a band
Then jump in the river holding hands
…except without the drugs, of course.
The errant Salient is out. My Trudeau non-interview looks good (p36). I’d like to start a trend where student journalists meet their subject but don’t talk to them for longer than a minute, and compose a 550-word article based on what they already knew offhand about the subject, including a photo of themselves with the subject to prove that they actually met them.
