Hogarth talk

 That went well.

I spent a concentrated four hours in the morning drawing six pictures, then printed them out as overhead transparencies. Halfway through I was remembering how easy all of this used to be. The talk was extremely well-catered, and I got to meet a lot of cartoon archive people, including the unfortunate librarian who has spent the past few months transcribing and annotating Jitterati. I wasn’t as coherent as I wanted to be, but thankfully I ended my 15 minutes with The Expat’s Progress, which went down well:

After a drink at the Backbencher it was odyssey time with Pippa and Helen, and subsequently I didn’t get home until about four in the morning. This involved Courtenay Place, Hummingbird, the supermarket, an opening at BATS, Chaffers Park, walking to Newtown and back, Bluenote, Courtenay Place again and that weird little takeaway off Cuba St which never seems to close. I also discovered that the slowest form of transportation is not snail or lame frog, but four gay guys with a camera. Imagine if the Germans, while invading the Soviet Union, had stopped every two metres to take picture of each other. Getting to Moscow would’ve taken longer than four months.

  1. Well, I suppose that counts as a halloween outing, 2 vamps and a lot of alcohol …

    Who needs costumes?!! ;-)
