I been aspleep!

I’ve been asleep, which, of course, is when interesting people text me asking me to go out and do fun things.

I had another one of my extraordinarily vivid dreams where I was holding a published copy of my graphic novel. So I quickly flicked through it to get some good ideas. It’s not really cheating. Now all I have to do is make it reality. I’m not sure whether my subconscious was trying to inspire me, or just piss me off.

Interesting Grauniad article about why the Sex and the City characters are poor role models..

  1. You might want to look up cryptomnesia and KekulĂ©’s discovery of the structure of the benzene molecule. The wiki article, in reflecting standard opinion, classifies it largely as “hidden memmory” – hence “crypto-mnesia”. However, since there’s increasing evidence that consciousness is only the pointy-haired boss of the brain, I suspect that the preconscious does a lot of processing and creation before feeding it to the conscious part of the mind.

Myself, I dreamt that H. P. Lovecraft had written an episode of Battlestar Galactica and it had apparently been directed by John Carpenter (fair enough, since The Thing was inspired by “At the Mountains of Madness”) with lots of New Nersey-accented actors (and possibly Ernest Borgnine). Jake the dog had been given (apparently benign) prominence.

Don’t think that I’ll use it.

  2. No, I did not mean to put that cutesy bloody emoticon there. Close quote, bracket!

  3. I thought it was somewhat out-of-character. I think my brain has been processing this project for a long time and it keeps feeding me updates.

  4. I always assumed that the novelty behind Sex In The City was that instead of having just one shallow female role-model, it presents four different kinds of shallow female role-model.

  5. I love the notion of pre-feminists going to college to study for a MRS degree…
