The Jaquie Brown Diaries on DVD

The DVD of the first season of The Jaquie Brown Diaries is nicely produced, with a full director’s commentary and a short making-of and outtakes section. Very well done for a New Zealand release. The only criticism I have from a DVD navigation point of view is that if you’re watching the episodes individually, when you’re returned to the episodes menu, the episode you’ve just watched is highlighted instead of the next one. That’s a small quibble, of course.

During the commentary, the participants continually point out where they cut corners cost-wise, using friend’s flats for locations and the friends themselves as extras. Okay, so $645,068 is tiny for 138 minutes of local TV, but I hope some people got paid.
