Indoor Voice by Jillian Tamaki

Indoor Voice
by Jillian Tamaki
Drawn & Quarterly Press, 2010

A varied collection of sketches and comics which hangs together extremely well, like an art portfolio with the slick-yet-dreary commercial stuff taken out and all the personal stuff left in. For such a small book, it’s stuffed full of ideas and observation, from delicate watercolours to some quite brutal charcoals. The crassness and insanity of life in Brooklyn provides plenty of material… the rest of the book is immaculately polite.
