Bacter-Area by Keith Jones

Another bonkers little book from Canadian artist Keith Jones, a collection of short comics and pictures in his distinctive style, which looks like Keith Haring and Picasso (in his Guernica phase) got together one weekend to have a crack at drawing ‘Where’s Wally’. His insanely complicated pictures include lots of tiny geometric objects and birds – there’s hardly a spare centimetre.

There’s also a few photos of his sculptures, which are basically room-sized cut-out versions of his squiggly little characters. The sequential comics aren’t as good as his crowd scenes and there’s no narrative or characterisation, but it’s interesting that this slim little book can be seen as a comic and as a tiny exhibition catalogue.
