Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer by Jensen & Higgins

Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer
by Van Jensen & Dusty Higgins
Slave Labor Graphics, 2010

The title is fairly self-explanatory. This slim volume summarises the original pre-Disney story by Carlo Collodi in the first three pages, and then goes fairly nuts. Pinocchio’s novel strategy for fighting vampires is to lie, then snap off his extended nose and use it as a stake.

Assisted by the Blue Fairy and the ghost of a certain admonishing cricket, he attempts to avenge the death of Geppetto. Overwrought and lots of fun, with big halftone dots.
