Drinking at the Movies by Julia Wertz

Drinking at the Movies
by Julia Wertz
Three Rivers Press, 2010

Wertz is back with the third instalment of her dreadfully honest autobiography, which she emphasises is not one of those tedious stories about how a small-town girl makes good in the Big Apple. Instead it’s the story of a woman in her mid-twenties who keeps getting fired from shitty jobs and moving between overpriced and grotty apartments, who has no interest in dating and deals with the stress of her situation and health problems, and her brother’s addiction, by slowly developing a drinking problem, hence the title.

This has just been nominated for an Eisner, so she’s doing something right.
