Weird Fishes by Jamaica Dyer

Weird Fishes
by Jamaica Dyer
SLG Publishing, 2009

The slim but endearing tale of the hallucination-prone Dee and her marginally more sensible friend Bunny Boy, who begins to transform himself into a Vince Noir-influenced Mod just as Dee’s hallucinations start taking on a disturbing life of their own.

Like many objects of glittering perfection (and serial killers), Weird Fishes began life in a school paper, and these early and deliberately obtuse strips are reprinted at the back of the book. The relaxed artwork is notable for its experimentation with different mediums, particularly dreamy watercolours, and looks far more interesting online in full colour.
